May 22 2023

The Department of International Business Administration at Lunghwa University of Science and Technology officially changed its name to the Department of Digital Marketing and Cross-border Business in the academic year 2023. On May 18th, the Department, in collaboration with Taiwan Microsoft, Fubon Life Insurance, RT-Mart, Simple Mart Retail, East Terng, Shoulong, Jmen, tw-TCi, Lotol Creative, V-KOOL (Taiwan), AWS Partner Network, and Taiwan e-commerce & Startup Association (TeSA), jointly established a digital marketing and cross-border business industry-academia and talent cultivation alliance. This alliance aims to form a high-quality team through cooperative efforts and create more opportunities for industry-university partnerships to accelerate the development of marketing and cross-border business professionals, ultimately enhancing students' competitiveness in the workplace.

President Tzu-Hsiang Ko emphasized that Taiwan maintains a leading position in worldwide digital development. In response to digital development strategies and industry transformation needs in Taiwan, the Department of International Business Administration officially changed its name to the Department of Digital Marketing and Cross-border Business starting in the academic year 2023. With the renaming, the department has introduced digital marketing and cross-border e-commerce-related professional courses. Additionally, various programs such as the order-based career program, industrial colleges, career programs of the Ministry of Labor, and cross-field credit courses have been included to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the current operation of online business. The goal is to equip students with the necessary expertise and skills for future demands, cultivating interdisciplinary talents with a global perspective, local care, and teamwork abilities in digital marketing and cross-border business operations.

Department Chair Li-Ping Hsu pointed out that in response to the digital commerce trend and the promotion of AI transformation in Taiwan's higher education, the department has collaborated with 12 industries and associations to establish a digital marketing and cross-border business industry-academia and talent cultivation alliance. This alliance aims to expand and deepen industry-academia connections to meet the needs of digital marketing and cross-border business. The department will continue to develop industry connections by actively collaborating with public associations and companies. It will integrate domestic and international cross-border e-commerce resources and leverage AI technology. Students will be guided to engage in proactive learning, encouraged to participate in various cross-border e-commerce competitions and certification projects, and gain early exposure to corporate environments to apply their knowledge. The goal is to equip students with excellent competitiveness and employability in the digital era, ensuring a smooth transition into the workplace and secure employment upon graduation.

Following the signing ceremony, a forum was immediately held, featuring the Public Sector Business Group team of Taiwan Microsoft discussing the theme of "Whole Cloud Campus, OpenAI, AI Classroom Applications, and Talent Cultivation." They elaborated on essential trends in education, allowing attendees to understand the promotion of innovative educational models and the cultivation of students' technical abilities in vocational education. The forum also highlighted the close relationship between the Whole Cloud Campus, OpenAI, and the AI Classroom.

Speakers from TeSA presented on the topic of "Interpreting Consumer Behavior through Shopee and Embracing Business Opportunities." They shared insights on understanding consumer needs, preferences, and trends through data analysis from the Shopee e-commerce platform, user reviews, search and keyword analysis, recommendation systems, and consumer behavior analysis. This understanding allows businesses to adjust their product promotion and positioning strategies to provide goods and services that satisfy consumer demands. Additionally, the 12 industry manufacturers participating in the alliance set up booths outside the forum venue to showcase their latest developments and future directions, providing students with information on industry-academia collaboration and employment opportunities.
