Lunghwa Raising Salaries Across the Board to Motivate Faculty to Boost Higher Performance and Build Quality Campus Environment

On January 17, 2024, Lunghwa University of Science and Technology announced a 4% increase in salary for full-time faculty and staff, including project teachers, along with enhancements to supervisor bonuses and professional allowances. This adjustment aligns with the recent salary adjustment for civil servants. Contract and project-based employees will also benefit from a 4% salary increase. Moreover, academic research funding for full-time teachers, including project teachers, will be adjusted based on public universities’ academic research allowance table. Assistant professors and above will see a 15% increase in their academic research funding, while lecturers will receive a 4% increase. This adjustment marks the university’s third salary increase since 2018, providing all faculty and staff members a New Year gift for the Year of the Dragon.

Despite the challenges posed by declining birth rates, Lunghwa University has seen a continuous increase in total student enrollment in recent years. The registration rate for the 2023 academic year reached 91.62%, making it the top comprehensive private university of science and technology with over 5,000 students. In the “2024 Corporate Favorite College Students Survey” by Cheers, Lunghwa has been ranked as the top private university of science and technology in Taiwan for the fifth consecutive year. It ranks just behind National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, National Taipei University of Technology, and National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology in technical and vocational education, representing a significant improvement of six places compared to 2023. Lunghwa is the only private university of science and technology to make it to the TOP 20, receiving recognition from various sectors of society for its outstanding educational performance.

Chairman Tao-Heng Sun of Lunghwa University stated that Lunghwa’s educational achievements are remarkable, thanks to the collective efforts of all faculty and staff. The salary adjustment is a tangible encouragement for employees and strengthens team cohesion. He thanked all faculty and staff for their dedicated efforts and recognized their hard work in their respective positions. He hopes to inspire all colleagues to continue creating excellent results and strive to build a high-quality campus environment.
