Objectives

To meet the demand of the related chemical engineering for the country economy construction, times trend, and future industry development, the research of this department strengthens on the topics related to the science and engineering, especially on the optoelectronic materials, plasma technology, energy and green materials, preparations and characterizations of nano-materials, green environmental technology and energy saving technology. There is plenty of research laboratories regarding to featured materials and green environmental technology, such as ‘Plasma Technology Lab,’ ‘Accurate Analysis Center, ‘Nano-materials Technology Lab,’ ‘Materials Machining Lab,’ ‘Semiconductor and Optoelectronic Materials Technology Lab,’ ‘Environmental Technology Lab,’ ‘Industrial Safety Lab,’ and ‘Materials processing Lab’ in addition to elementary teaching laboratories. The department owns many valuable instruments which individually cost more than one million NT dollars, such as XRD, DSC (TGA), FESEM and WDS, TEM, PECVD, RF and MW plasma systems, as well as some common instruments as AA, TOC, FTIR, ICP, GC-Mass, HPLC, Zeta-potential. It is believed that with the instructions from well-qualified faculty and through the process of systematic learning, students are able to get skilful and well-prepared skills and knowledge for their own future.

Goals:

  1. To nurture students as research and development personnels specialized in the field of chemical and materials engineering.
  2. To nurture students as professional personnels with the ability of independent thinking , and planning, analyzing, and solving engineering problems.
  3. To nurture graduated students with the ability of communication, coordination, integration, and expression.

Features

Two major features, green chemical process and materials application technology, are developing to target the following fields:

  1. Material technology, including optoelectronic materials technology and nana-materials technology, for example, nano-particles and materials, MOCVD, metal and ceramic materials’ processing, micro-electroforming, plasma application technology (surface modification, waste treatment).
  2. Green technology, including processing technique and energy technique, for example, membrane separation, wastewater treatment, water analysis, heavy metal recycling, disasters prevention education.

Objectives

To meet the demand of the related chemical engineering for the country economy construction, times trend, and future industry development, the teaching of this department strengthens on basic courses related to the field of chemical engineering, especially on the courses of optoelectronic materials, plasma technology, energy and green materials, preparations and characterizations of nano-materials, environmental technology and disasters prevention education. The curriculum emphasizes on practical courses and the tutorship to help students to get certificates, and strengthens students' English ability so that the students will be fully prepared to enter the job market.

 

The department boasts of excellent facilities, and a congenial teaching and learning environment. There is plenty of research laboratories regarding to featured materials and environmental technology, such as ‘Plasma Technology Lab,’ ‘Accurate Analysis Center, ‘Nano-materials Technology Lab,’ ‘Materials Machining Lab,’ ‘Semiconductor and Optoelectronic Materials Technology Lab,’ ‘Environmental Technology Lab,’ ‘Industrial Safety Lab,’ and ‘Materials processing Lab’ in addition to elementary teaching laboratories.
